The Web-portal "The Russian Museum: the Virtual Branch" covers activities of the Project of the same name and provides interconection between organisations participating in the Project.

 

The Project “The Russian Museum: the Virtual Branch” has been directed by The Russian museum (Federal state establishment of culture “The Russian museum”, St.Petersburg) since 2003.

 

“The Russian Museum: the Virtual Branch” is an interregional and international project, that embodies the idea of making the greatest collection of national art more accessible to the wider public. The possibilities of computer technology let us realise this goal by creating information and educational centres "The Russian Museum: the virtual branch" which are based within institutions of culture and education, both in Russia and abroad.

 

By today there are 119 centres “The Russian Museum: the Virtual Branch” open (84 centres in Russia, 34 abroad and 1 on Antarctica). Among participants of the project there are museums , universities, other cultural and educational organisations.
